HISTORY

Ranka Dambis 34 was located at ensemble of several wooden buildings – the Estate of Hagen. This estate was the residence of two philosophers of Renaissance Johan Georg Gamann and Johan Gottfried Herder in due time. In order contemporaries to remember history and did not forget people who lived and created in Latvia, we called towers of HERDER and HAMANN, and the project - PHILOSOPHERS’ RESIDENCE.

• Two buildings with total area of 14 760 sq.m.
• Living area of 10 028 sq.m. (total 115 apartments)
• Terraces of total 2 841 sq.m.
• Underground parking of 121 places

The unique characteristic of project’s architecture appears in the position of the frst apartment floor – it is lifted 14 metres above the ground. Only support pillars and the large entrancehall with a ceiling height of 12 metres are lowered to the ground level. Such solution allowed toeffectively increase the recreation area. On the ground level under a roof, which is supposedas the 6th storey of the building, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts have been situated. Inthe territory of the project you will also fnd an recreation area with 2 children’s playgrounds.In the process of developing the technical tasks of Philosophers’ Residence, all parametershave outperformed construction regulations of the European Union, corresponding to thehighest demands of security and comfort, allowing the project to be included in the “Premium” class projects.

GENERAL IDEA AND ARCHITECTURE

To develop the project in compliance with the highest demands of quality, we have invitedAndris Kronbergs – the leading Latvian architect, president of the Latvia Association ofArchitects, owner and director of architectural frm “ARHIS”.Architecture of the building pursues the general idea of the quarters - visually the buildingresembles a stack of books, where each storey is a new book, a new content with its ownphilosophical approach in life. Terraces and balconies of different sizes and directions in eachapartment help the architect with the diffcult task of properly visualising this image, creatingan opportunity for meditative relaxation for the residents.

APARTMENTS AND PENTHOUSES

When opening the entrance door, breath-taking views from windows appear before your eyes, being especially tremendous when contrasting with the warm and comfortable atmosphere of the interior. Height of the apartment ceilings inspire to breathe freely. Up until the 14th floor, height of the ceiling is 2.9 meters, and on the higher floors – 3.1 meters, for those who love freedom.

Three-level penthouses deserve a separate story – it is a true Ode to leadership and success. The height of the living room ceiling is 6.5 metres, panoramic windows from floor to ceiling with a constantly changing picture of beauty of the surrounding city – living manifestation of vital and zesty philosophy. Living room, study, kitchen not included in the area of guest reception, spacious public area, and we have gone to the second, “bedroom” level. Each apartment has its own Master Bedroom. And if you start to miss the blue sky above your head, or your thoughts get cramped into a 3.1-metre ceiling, it is time to go to the third level. A large terrace with an area of 100 - 120 metres – a place where you can make any dreams come true – a swimming-pool under the open sky, a tanning salon or barbeque – all this surrounded with 2.3-metre glass walls protecting from wind and making any season pleasant.
